Installing DBTools Manager it is an easy task. Follow the instructions below to install and set up the primary information in order to use the DBManager.

  • Download the DBTools Manager package

  • Run the setup.exe file and follow the instructions to install the DBManager files in your hard drive

  • After the setup finishes, start the DBManager application and click on the Server Manager button on the main toolbar. There, you will add all the information necessary to connect to your servers. Add as many servers as you want.

Requirements to Install and Use the DBTools Manager

  • OS Windows 98/ME/XP, Windows NT 4.0 Server & Workstation, Windows 2000/2003, with Internet Explorer 5.5 or superior. Please check for latest updates and fixes available for your Operational System.

  • TCP/IP installed and properly configured. Please, consult the Windows documentation if you need help

  • Database Server installed, configured and ready for connections. Aditional information can be found at MySQL and PostgreSQL websites.

  • User Privileges to connect to the Database Server. if the server is installed in the same PC as DBTools this is the localhost, if not, you will need privilege to connect from other hosts. Usually '%' is the best choice

  • If you intend to Import/Export data using MS Access, MS FoxPro, Paradox and ODBC data sources you need at least DAO 3.51 (MSOffice 97) installed with the correct ISAM drivers. DAO 3.51 is shipped with the Professional Version. for older versions you may need to download the drivers directly from the microsoft website

  • To Import/Export using MSOffice 2000 files you need DAO 3.6 version, shipped with MS Office 2000. The latest DAO drivers version 3.6 are available to download at www.microsoft.com. You can find the drivers at the link http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q239/1/14.ASP . This is useful for those who wants to import/convert MS Access 2000 databases, but don't have MS Office installed.

  • Since the detection of the DAO drivers version is not automatic with MSOffice 2000 files, check Settings => Data => Use DAO 3.6 and DBTools Manager will use the drivers from the latest version.

  • If you have MSOffice 2000 installed and the DAO 3.6 is not visible to other applications, find the location of DAO*.DLL (I.E. DAO350.DLL or DAO360.DLL) files and put the folder in the PATH environment var. This only happens with MSOffice 2000 on Windows 2000.

  • Consult the DBManager Manual for more details
